Last Friday the DWC hosted a workshop Writing for the Web: Pedagogical and Professional Considerations. Issues discussed included making a professional web site for the academic job search, using web sites for course syllabi, integrating web authoring in first-year writing courses, technologies for creating web sites (including free, online sites such as Weebly, Webs, and Google Sites), and resources to help with web authoring.

Sophie–free ebook, media software

For those considering multimedia projects for English 112 or for those who simply want a multimedia platform for their own digital writing, you might consider Sophie. Some of you have worked with Sophie–the open-source software that allows for easy integration of text and media and is designed for creating ebooks. Anyway, I just saw on techrhet that Sophie 2.0 is going to be released Nov. 15 and it will be web-based so it will work on the internet and will not require downloading a special reader.
