Multi-Modal Composing with L2 Learners

On February 8, Felice Marcus, along with one of her students, discussed with us the challenges and successes of using video with second language writers. This workshop showcased ESL students’ short personal movie narratives, called “digital stories”. Through these movies about self, family, and community, students learn not only techniques for developing narrative and creating an argument, but also how to express their distinctive voices and share cross-cultural perspectives through combination of visual, audio, and written text.

You can view several of these examples on the DWC awards page.
